Whereas the Government of Canada wishes to ensure that Canada Post Corporation will continue its financial contribution to the Publications Assistance Program until March 31, 2009;

 

Whereas, in support of the Publication Assistance Program, Canada Post Corporation funds that Program up to an amount of $15 million annually;

 

And whereas the Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities, as the appropriate Minister, has consulted the board of directors of Canada Post Corporation with respect to the content and effect of this directive;

 

Therefore, Her Excellency the Governor General in Council, being of the opinion that it is in the public interest, on the recommendation of the Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities, pursuant to section 89 of the Financial Administration Act, hereby directs Canada Post Corporation to continue its financial contribution to the Publications Assistance Program until March 31, 2009.

 

Attendu que le gouvernement du Canada veut s’assurer que la Société canadienne des postes continuera de soutenir financièrement le Programme d’aide aux publications jusqu’au 31 mars 2009;

 

Attendu que, pour appuyer le Programme d’aide aux publications, la Société canadienne des postes y verse un financement maximal de 15 millions de dollars par année;

 

Attendu que le ministre des Transports, de l’Infrastructure et des Collectivités, à titre de ministre de tutelle, a consulté le conseil d’administration de la Société canadienne des postes sur la teneur et les effets des présentes instructions,

 

À ces causes, sur recommandation du ministre des Transports, de l’Infrastructure et des Collectivités et en vertu de l’article 89 de la Loi sur la gestion des finances publiques, Son Excellence la Gouverneure générale en conseil, estimant que l’intérêt public le justifie, donne instruction à la Société canadienne des postes de continuer sa contribution financière au Programme d’aide aux publications jusqu’au 31 mars 2009.
